Swine Flu Symptoms and Treatment Guidelines

Swine flu is an infection caused by a virus. The total number of deaths due to swine flu has now crossed 800 and over 14,000 people have been affected with the H1N1 virus across India. Here are the categories of Swine Flu with their symptoms and treatment guidelines in New Delhi India.

Patients as per following categories:

Category A

Symptoms:-

Mild fever, cough/sore throat with or without bodyache, headache, diarrhea and vomiting.

Treatment Action:-

• No Testing
• No Tamiflu
• Symptomatic treatment
• Home isolation

Category B
B1

Symptoms:-

All symptoms of Cat. A + high grade fever and severe sore throat.

Treatment Action:-

• No Testing
• Home Isolation
• Capsule Tamiflu may be given
B2

Symptoms: –

All symptoms of Cat. A + High risk group women, person more than 65 yrs. Patients with lung, hear, lever, kidney diseases, Blood/cancer and HIV/AIDS.

Treatment Action:-

• No Testing
• Home Isolation
• Capsule Tamiflu may be given

Category C

Symptoms: –

Signs and symptoms of Cat. A & B + following Breathlessness, Chest Pain, Drowsiness, Low BP, Sputum with Blood, Bluish Discoloration of Nails, Irritable Child, Worsening of underline chronic condition.

Treatment Action:-

• Immediate Testing.
• Hospitalization and treatment

    Sir, if Swine flu test is -ve, and I category “B” can Tamiflu be given, no Diarrhea and Vomiting, but high fewer exists

    Swine flu (swine influenza) is a disease of pigs. Swine flu produces most of the same symptoms in pigs as human flu produces in people.
